Lamothe has established himself as a dynamic and versatile player, making an impact both offensively and defensively throughout his collegiate career.

2024–25 Season (North Carolina A&T)

In his sophomore season at North Carolina A&T, Lamothe averaged 13.8 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game, starting 30 of 32 contests for the Aggies. He reached double figures in scoring 22 times and recorded 20 or more points in 10 games, including eight of his final 10 matchups. Over the course of the season, he sank three or more three-pointers in 10 games and notched eight double-doubles, highlighted by a 20-point, 17-rebound performance at Campbell on February 10. Lamothe opened the season with a career-high 27 points against Cheyney. His strong play in late February, averaging 24 points and nine rebounds over two victories, earned him CAA Co-Player of the Week honors as well as the Oscar Robertson National Player of the Week recognition from the USBWA.

2023–24 Season (Maryland)

During his freshman year at Maryland, Lamothe appeared in 16 games, averaging 0.8 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.3 assists per contest. He also contributed four steals and two blocks while averaging 6.9 minutes per game, shooting 25% from the floor and 50% from the free-throw line. Lamothe scored in double figures for the first time in his career with 10 points, three rebounds, a steal, a block, and an assist against Alcorn State on December 12. Other notable contributions included two rebounds and an assist versus Rider, recording his first career point along with two assists against UMBC, and coming off the bench to tally three steals and two rebounds against Villanova. He made his collegiate debut against Mount St. Mary’s on November 7.

Prep Career

Lamothe had an outstanding prep career at St. Frances Academy, capped by his selection as team captain for the Capital All-Stars in the 50th Annual Hoop Culture Capital Classic in April 2023. His senior season featured a school-record 57-point game against John Carroll, which included 16 three-pointers—also a school record. He also posted 30 points and seven rebounds while leading St. Frances to the MIAA AA Conference Championship, earning MIAA MVP honors and a spot on the BCL First Team. Lamothe finished his prep career with over 1,000 points, averaging 20 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, and two steals per game, becoming the first player in school history to average a triple-double for a regular season. He was a two-time all-conference First Team selection, a Capital All-American in 2023, and participated in the City Is Mine Basketball All-Star Game. Nationally, he was ranked as a four-star recruit, the No. 3 overall player in Maryland, and as high as No. 122 in the country. In addition to Maryland, he held scholarship offers from Georgetown, UCF, and Penn State and played on Team Durant in AAU competition. Lamothe helped lead St. Frances to a 35-8 record and a No. 2 ranking in The Baltimore Sun high school poll during his junior year. He is also a National Honor Society inductee.

Personal

Lamothe is the son of Danielle and Ernst Lamothe and has four siblings: Jahson, Jahsiah, Jahshua, and Jahai. He is currently majoring in Communication Studies.
